Jennie Pedersen-Coulter is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional serving West Des Moines and the surrounding areas and serves as Clinical Director for the practice. Jennie works from a trauma-sensitive, client-centered approach and is passionate about creating a safe space where you can express your concerns, feel heard and understood, and work towards your desired goals. Jennie has experience working with adults and adolescents on a variety of issues and concerns including but not limited to depression, anxiety, trauma/PTSD, self-worth, relationship/communication issues, life transitions and stress management. Jennie has interest in working with clients who have experienced trauma through the use of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing ) to move towards healing from the symptoms and emotional distress resulting from traumatic life experiences. Jennie also finds value in bringing the body into treatment through the use of trauma-sensitive yoga as an alternative way to promote healing. She has extensive training in the practice of yoga which includes training in Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga; an evidence-based intervention for treatment resistant PTSD.
Jennie earned her Master of Science degree (2005) from Drake University. Her post-graduate experience includes providing assessment and therapy in both outpatient and residential settings.
Outside of the office you’ll find Jennie playing outdoors with her husband and children, enjoying live music with friends, and spending time on her yoga mat..
