Jacob is a Temporary Licensed Mental Health Counselor (TLMHC) who thinks of therapy as a
collaborative process between therapists and clients. As the guide in this relationship, he is
focused on helping clients recognize, understand, and overcome challenges that continue to impact
the quality of their life. To do this, Jacob combines a primarily cognitive-behavioral approach to
therapy with an underpinning of existential philosophy. His aim is to assist clients in implementing
necessary changes in their lives while providing safety and connection in a meaningful therapeutic
relationship. His overall goal is to empower clients to navigate towards living a more purposeful
and harmonious life.
Jacob received his master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from Grand View University.
He also has experience working in substance abuse educational programs and recovery settings.
Jacob uses a relaxed, person-centered approach throughout the therapeutic process that utilizes
a variety of other clinical approaches best suited for clients. He strives to maintain a warm and
empathetic environment for his clients to explore and grow in.
Outside of the office Jacob enjoys reading and relaxing to music. He also likes to spend time
walking or biking along trails, going to the movies, and playing card games with his friends.
