Amy Oehlert is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and certified alcohol and drug counselor. She graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a Master of Arts degree in Mental Health Counseling and has worked in the field of substance use disorder treatment since 2008. She has experience working in college counseling centers, employee assistance programs and hospital based behavioral programs.
Amy believes in building a therapeutic relationship built on a foundation of empathy, genuineness, and judgment free respect for clients. She believes in helping clients increase their self-awareness, strengths, personal insight, and coping skills leads to growth and relief from stress and human suffering. Amy is committed to helping clients identify and clarify their goals and to provide a safe and therapeutic relationship. Amy’s theoretical approaches include person centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing.
Outside of the office, Amy enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She enjoys listening to music, boating, and going for long walks in the summer.
